Gas Drive-Offs Reported At Lawrenceburg Store
Employees at a Lawrenceburg store reported last week two separate instances of individuals driving away without paying for gasoline.
The crimes were reported by employees of Quik Mart #6 on East Gaines Street. Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that at around 5:00 p.m. a man requested the pumps be turned on because, “His credit card was not working.” The clerk reported that he pumped $38.14 worth of gasoline, then left without paying.
Around eight hours later, an employee reported a gas theft totaling $25.13. During this crime the clerk said a man came into the store, asking that the pump be turned on because he, too, was having trouble running his bank card at the pump. The clerk indicated that the second man also left without coming inside to pay.
Detectives are currently following leads in both cases.
